There are several steps to properly cleaning a carpet:
Vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove any loose dirt and debris.
Pre-treat any stains or heavily soiled areas with a Safic stain-removing product, what you need would vary depending on the stain.
Use a carpet cleaning machine, such as the selection of Cleanfix TW carpet cleaning machines, to apply a cleaning solution to the carpet and remove dirt and stains. Make sure to use the right cleaning solution such as Floorworx Low Foam Carpet Cleaner.
Rinse the carpet thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining cleaning solution.
Allow the carpet to dry completely before walking on it or replacing any furniture. Most of the water will be removed from the carpet cleaning machine, so this should speed up the process.
Different types of carpet may require different cleaning methods, so it is wise to consult the carpet manufacturer's instructions or a Safic/ Cleanfix professional for the most appropriate approach.
